| contact | home prego saucy: March 8 - 17 2007 March 8 2007 I lost six pounds during my bout with the stomach bug. Not good at this stage of the game -- it puts me at a net gain of 8 pounds for the entire pregnancy.
March 12 2007 Today JB made a cast of my pregnant belly. Below are quick and dirty instructions. I purchased 5 rolls of pre-plastered bandages at a medical supply store and a tub of vaseline.
I rubbed vaseline all over my torso and put gobs of Lansinoh nipple cream on my sensitive parts (this stuff should not be specifically for breastfeeding mothers; anybody with nipples can benefit from regular applications of lovely Lansinoh). We pre-cut a number of lengths of strips -- but not enough; definitely pre-cut a bunch... Dip the strips in warm water and apply to your body. JB made a support frame on me first: around my neck, over my shoulders, under my boobs; and around my neck, over my shoulders, under my belly. Then, he started filling in... Be sure to work quickly... It is messy and drippy. The castee should move as little as possible. I adopted a cop-like stance: legs apart, hands on hips. Grrr.
The bandages dried well enough to remove the cast in about 20 minutes. It didn't hurt to remove -- it just popped off. The cast, once removed, was still a little pliable and we were hesitant to set it down in case it collapsed, so JB sat outside with it for another 20 minutes, and then we clipped some binder clips to the shoulders and hung it up to air dry for another day. I really have no idea what I'm going to do with it (I'm in the midst of painting it to look marbley) -- mostly I want to be able to show Scooter how big my tummy once was and that she lived in there for the better part of the year...
March 15 2007 I gained three pounds back! Woo -- net gain of 11 pounds for the pregnancy. How people go and gain 60 pounds when they're prego is beyond me.

The bag is packed and the carseat awaits:
March 17 2007 I have started taking black cohosh to encourage contractions. It's like drinking a forest puddle or compost juice...
